Campaign for Mayor of Colwood
Cynthia Day officially announces her candidacy for Mayor in the 2026 municipal election, bringing over two decades of Council experience to the pursuit of a confident local future.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLWOOD, B.C. After more than two decades serving the community on Colwood Council, Cynthia Day is announcing her candidacy for Mayor of Colwood in the 2026 municipal election. First elected in 2001, Day has earned the confidence of Colwood voters through multiple elections.
“I have been incredibly privileged to have the confidence of Colwood residents for more than two decades,” said Day. “I don’t take that trust for granted. It comes with a responsibility to listen, to ask difficult questions, to make sound decisions and to make sure we actually move forward.”
Growth Must Be Matched by Infrastructure
Day supports responsible growth where essential systems like transportation and sewers keep pace with development. “We cannot wait until infrastructure problems become crises,” she noted. “Residents should not have to choose between growth and the quality of life that makes Colwood special.”
Fiscal Responsibility and Long-term Planning
As a fiscal conservative, Day advocates for transparent budgeting and infrastructure lifecycle planning. “Fiscal responsibility is about whether the decisions we make today remain financially sustainable twenty years from now.”
Good Governance and Decisive Leadership
Day emphasizes the distinct roles of Council and administration, valuing accountability and ethical conduct. “Leadership is about understanding roles, respecting expertise, and providing clear direction to get things done.”
Leading Colwood into Its Future
With a vision rooted in seaside character and community spirit, Day is ready to lead. “I am running for Mayor because I have the experience and leadership skills to lead Colwood into its future and toward all that it can be.”
